Harper "Hall" Birdsong, M.Ed.
Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern

Individuals Therapy

Pronouns: he/him/his

Hello and welcome to BYBS!

I'm originally from Virginia, where I completed both my bachelor and master’s degree from The College of William & Mary. During undergrad, I majored in Film & Media while I was a Division 1 student athlete. I then decided to pursue a graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Since graduating in May of 2022, I moved to the St. Petersburg area, and I’m so happy to call it home!

People are often surprised to hear that I originally pursued documentary filmmaking, but for me, filmmaking and counseling really aren’t so different. They both focus on telling people’s stories and exploring the human condition. They both ask existential questions: Who am I? What matters most? How do I heal? I truly enjoy this process of exploration, whether in film or the counseling room, and love helping my clients reconnect with their true, unique selves.

My clinical experience includes depression, anxiety, bereavement, grief, relationship issues, trauma- related disorders, life transitions, sports performance, and sexuality and gender issues. I celebrate people from all backgrounds, identities, and beliefs. As a member myself, I’m passionate about working with the LGBTQIA+ community and proving gender affirming care to trans and non-binary adolescents and adults. I also enjoy working with athletes of all levels on performance anxiety and peak performance.

Therapy with me is collaborative and your voice matters most. In addition to traditional talk therapy, I believe in the power of meditation and eastern philosophy and enjoy sharing these holistic approaches with those interested.

It's never too late to change and create a life that is imbued with a sense of quality, care, and love. The more we get the inside right, the more the outside will fall into place. Through healing old wounds and patterns, we can move to a sense of joy and ease. I would be honored to join you on your journey towards healing, transformation, and growth.
