FAQ

Cancellation PolicyAt our practice, we honor every single session with care, concern, and respect. In turn, we ask that clients do the same. We have a high demand for services, so our therapists hold your appointments to ensure you have a dedicated time and day for your journey. Late cancellations and no-shows disrupt this delicate flow and prevent other folks from potentially accessing the care that they need too. We understand that crises happen, so communicating with your counselor is important. We even provide text and email reminders that give you plenty of time to reschedule if needed. As such, we require a minimum of 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. All late cancellations or no-show appointments will be charged the full amount for the missed session. We truly appreciate understanding and respect of this guideline. Be sure to check in with your counselor to ensure you are receiving the “reminder” text messages and emails to avoid any issues.

Policy feesOur prices range from $50-250 depending on the therapist and reflect multiple factors: duration of appointment, number of attendees, the therapist’s individual pricing, and the kind of therapy you are receiving (individual, couples, groups and specialty services). Please check out Meet the Team Page for each therapist’s individual pricing.

Do we offer online counseling?Yes, we absolutely offer online counseling! In addition to the free, initial 15-minute consultation that’s held over the phone, we also offer online counseling (phone call/video chat) to anyone that needs/or prefers this method of service delivery. Online counseling can be hugely beneficial for individuals who are not located close to our physical office, have schedules that don’t fit within traditional office hours, or just simply prefer to do therapy in the comfort of their own home.

Why choose counseling at BYBS?If this is your first time attending therapy, you may be wondering, why should I choose BYBS as my mental-health service provider? This is a common question we hear, as it can sometimes feel difficult to find the “perfect place” that fits your needs. It can also be hard to find a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and compatible. This is where we really stand out! Here at BYBS, our team has been carefully selected and the energy carefully cultivated by our owner, Jamie, to ensure we have the best holistic practitioners providing the highest quality therapy. Additionally, our practice’s environment has been meticulously designed to create an open and comfortable space to ensure that all individuals who come to us feel welcome and heard.. .
Although this may all sound wonderful, we get that this may not be enough for you to say “yes” to BYBS. Another unique quality that BYBS embodies is versatility. If you scroll through the website, you’ll notice the endless options of therapy specializations we offer, including burnout, counseling for codependency, depression, LGBTQ+, HSPs and Empaths, couples counseling, yoga, and many others. There truly is space for any person actively seeking therapy. Even if our specializations don’t seem to be in alignment specifically for you, don’t let that deter you from receiving help. We accept all people who bring their own unique and beautiful stories with open arms! If you do believe one of those specializations fits your needs, you may feel relieved that not only do we offer help with this concern, but our therapists have specific training and experience to treat the concern. Here at BYBS, you will notice that the options for therapy are endless, the environment is soothing to the mind, body and soul, and you will feel accepted for all that you bring to each counseling session. We aim to practice respect, acceptance, and patience towards all clients. We are a small business with a tight-knit team, ready to serve our local community in St. Petersburg, Fl and throughout the state of Florida.
What keeps people from going to therapy?
You may be wondering, do I have to have something wrong with me to go to a therapist? Our answer is: absolutely not. People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons: support, grief, coaching, advice, stress management…the list goes on and on. We believe going to a therapist should be a regular part of a person’s wellness plan, just like seeing the doctor or the dentist. Sometimes we need more in-depth support, but sometimes our mind just needs a quick tune up too!
I feel uncomfortable about seeing a therapist - should I still go?
Going to therapy can sometimes feel initially intimidating and/or uncomfortable. Unfortunately, there's still a negative stigma present in our world that can prevent individuals from seeking out support. You have likely heard that if you have to attend therapy, you’re “broken” or “crazy.” But we want you to know that while this is still a common belief, it is a complete myth and 100% not true. And it is our mission to crush this mental health stigma because we believe that everyone deserves kindness, care, and respect.
Is it awkward talking to a complete stranger?
We get that question a lot! And to be honest, yes, sometimes it can feel a little awkward at first. But we find that once people come to our office, sit down on the big comfy couch with their cup of tea, and finally get a chance to be completely honest and free of judgment, any bit of awkwardness disappears pretty quickly. And once you are able to challenge yourself with unfamiliarity, you become more empowered to conquer anything that initially gives you fear. Attending therapy (especially at BYBS) will help you draw from your own inner strength to overcome challenges you are facing in all areas of your life and create a more empowered, positive way of being.
Who we work best with?
Open-minded towards new perspectives/techniques to which you may not have had prior exposure. Many folks have had <several> unsuccessful attempts at traditional therapy before making it to us and as a result, may feel weary or uncertain about trying yet another therapist. We totally get that! All you need is just the willingness to try - simply having an open mind and willingness to give it a go is huge in itself and will help you produce positive outcomes and long-lasting results.
Desire for something different / deeper. We are unique in that we offer a different approach, a deeper, more meaningful experience that leads to profound change. Folks that come to us crave depth - they crave change. They know that what they are doing isn’t working anymore, that something needs to change, however big or small, and they want our help figuring out how to make this happen.
Patience with the process - sometimes, folks feel relief right away, sometimes it will take time to feel results. Every person has their own unique story and experiences, so the healing journey varies greatly. Some folks simply need a bit more time to heal than others and that’s ok. Our clinicians honor the process and are here to walk alongside you on your journey to a happier, healthier you, no matter how long it takes.
Additional information
Payments
We accept cash, all major credit cards, Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards.
Insurance
We do not accept insurance. Here are the reasons why:
-
We are dedicated to ensuring privacy and flexibility and we can get started quickly without waiting for authorization from your insurance company.
-
Therapy can end when it feels right – not because additional sessions have not been authorized.
-
Insurance companies have access to your diagnosis and can request additional records in order to justify treatment which means your confidentiality is significantly reduced.
We are out-of-network providers.
We do, however, work with insurance companies out-of-network. Out-of-network services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. We recommend checking your coverage by asking the following questions of your insurance carrier:
Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
-
What is my deductible and has it been satisfied?
-
How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
-
How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?
-
What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
Please note that only licensed providers can provider out-of-network receipts. Please confirm with your clinician if you need an out-of-network receipt.
