Elena Simonsen, LCSW

BYBS Contributing Writer

Strengths: Harmony | Restorative | Intellection | Input | Empathy

Pronouns: She / Her / Hers

Hello! I’m a recent graduate of Florida State University with a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree. I currently work in a local hospital and also help Be Your Best Self & Thrive with their blog. I love that BYBS takes a holistic approach to counseling and you will see that I infuse this in my writing as well.

I believe that everyone deserves to live a happy, fulfilling life. Each person is unique, and thus different therapy techniques will work better for different people.

I hope that my writing will help you will with self-acceptance, celebrating your life successes, and learning safe ways to manage life’s stressors. In a world where the only thing that is constant is change, I want to help you learn how to adapt. Society tells us not to talk about our problems, and that uncomfortable feelings are bad. Many of society’s values lead us to feel ashamed and afraid to reach out to others. I offer genuine, caring, compassionate ways to support you through this journey we call life and to help you discover ways that you can navigate through life safely and with joy.

I write from a client-centered, holistic approach and I utilize a blend of techniques from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Rogerian Therapy, as well as Solution Focused Therapy in my tips and strategies.
