Hello! Thank you so much for stopping by my page. I am so excited to connect with you on a therapeutic level and welcome you to the Be Your Best Self & Thrive practice!

I recently moved back to the St. Pete area after spending the past 10 years away from home. My professional journey began in New Orleans, where I received my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and worked with individuals and groups in an agency and substance rehabilitation setting. My first job out of school was working with families in the community. I met with parents and their children in their homes three times a week in order to help them keep their children out of the juvenile justice system. This experience was incredibly rewarding - working with families showed me just how much we can accomplish when the whole support system is on board!

I worked in this field for about five years, and then transitioned into working with foster parents and their children as the Foster Care Placement Supervisor. While this job was also incredibly rewarding, I realized my passion is working with individuals and families in a more private, personalized setting. Then the pandemic hit and I was about four months into my first pregnancy! Not only was this an unexpected blessing, but it also completely changed my career path.

I have since received specialized training in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders as well as Perinatal Grief. This became a passion of mine as I navigated the world as a mental health professional with very little knowledge or understanding of the toll pregnancy and motherhood takes on your mental health. Going through a pregnancy in a pandemic while also having a traumatic birth story truly opened up my eyes to the complicated emotions we go through as women entering into a new phase of our lives. Not only does this change the relationship we have with ourselves but it changes all of the relationships we have around us, with our families, our friends, and our partners. Even what feels like the most ‘stable’ and ‘perfect’ relationships undergo changes that are difficult to navigate, whether you are having/have a child or not.

Because of my personal journey, working with women going through major life changes (whether that is having a baby, changing the family dynamic, moving to a new city, or even just dealing with family history) has become my focus in my work.  I enjoy using family systems and holistic therapy to dig deeper and find out where the current beliefs are coming from while also practicing mindfulness and being present in order to identify how our emotions are coming up and how they are affecting your body. One of the most important things for us to understand and be in tune with is our body and how our emotions can affect our physical health and presence. As a woman, our monthly cycle (which is actually one of many things that can impact us) brings major changes to our hormones, and our hormones directly affect how we feel physically and emotionally. Even if you are on hormonal birth control, our bodies still react in certain ways and there are still changes happening with our hormones at certain times during the month. Pregnancy and childbirth is the biggest hormonal shift our bodies will ever experience which is why it is so important to be in touch with those things when it comes to postpartum anxiety and depression or even the “baby blues.”

Working towards bettering yourself can be difficult, but you don't have to do it alone. We can work together to process your history and anything you may have gone through that is holding you back from having the life you want and the relationships you've longed for.

This work can be so challenging in the beginning, which is why it is so important to have a strong support system. Working with your support system outside of therapy is important as well! We will work to identify who that is and what that looks like for you. I believe boundaries are key to lasting, healthy relationships and we will work to develop those as well.

Whether you are experiencing anxiety in your life due to relationships, family issues, or work stress, I am here to help. Together, we can identify the root cause of your anxiety or difficult feelings, and implement holistic coping skills that will help you feel more grounded, balanced and centered.
